A pool surround built for bare feet

The area around your pool has to look great, stay cool underfoot and give sure footing when it is wet. A concrete pool surround delivers all three, and ties the pool into the rest of your backyard.

We create custom concrete surrounds across Newcastle in finishes chosen for grip and comfort, so the space is as safe for kids as it is inviting for guests.

The benefits

Why concrete around your pool

Slip-resistant

Textured and non-slip finishes give safe footing on wet surfaces, day in and day out.

Cool, custom looks

Lighter colours and finishes stay cooler underfoot and can be styled to match your home.

Handles poolside life

Built to cope with splashing, sunscreen, salt and constant foot traffic without breaking down.

Easy to keep clean

A rinse and the occasional seal is all it takes to keep a concrete surround looking its best.

Our approach

Drainage and grip come first

A pool surround has to move water away from the pool and the house and stay grippy when soaked. We set the falls to drainage points, choose a slip-resistant texture and seal the surface against pool chemicals and salt.

Step by step

How we build your pool surround

1

Design the space

We look at the pool, the layout and how you use the area, then agree the finish and falls.

2

Prepare and form

Excavate, compact the base, set drainage falls and form around the pool edge.

3

Pour and finish

Place reinforcement, pour and finish with a slip-resistant, cool-underfoot surface.

4

Seal and protect

Seal the surround against water, salt and chemicals so it lasts and cleans easily.

Pool surround questions

Is concrete slippery around a pool?

Not when it is finished correctly. We use textured, broom or exposed aggregate finishes and non-slip sealers so the surround stays grippy even when wet.

Does concrete get too hot underfoot?

Lighter colours and finishes reflect more heat and stay noticeably cooler than dark surfaces. We can recommend a finish that is comfortable for bare feet.

Will pool salt and chemicals damage it?

Sealed concrete stands up well to salt and pool chemicals. We seal pool surrounds specifically for that environment and recommend a re-seal every few years.

Can you work around an existing pool?

Yes. We regularly pour surrounds around established pools, forming carefully to the existing edge and coping.
